And we will sleep by the ocean
Our hearts will move with the tide
And we will wake in the morning
To see the sun, paint the sky
DW Meets The Wild West
When was the last time you took 3 weeks off of work to hit the road?
Or perhaps when you’re retired, right?
I decided now.
In September 2017, I fueled up my car and hit the road with a fellow REI colleague to head out West. Note: I work part-time at REI to fuel my fun + passion of being around others who play outside .
What did I pack to camp across the West for the next three weeks?
- First + foremost, my passed-down Nikon D70 camera
- A tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and pillow for outdoor shut-eye
- Hiking boots and sandals for the sand
- 12 pairs of hiking socks
- Yeti cooler –yeah they’re amazingly efficient
- National Park Pass
…and many other said things that you likely don’t care about.
The important piece, my camera —how I see.
I naturally like creating environments of connection. It’s the first piece to my purpose. I’m lucky to do this everyday at work at Iowa State University with college students, makers, problem-solvers, and entrepreneurs.
What piece follows…is how I see — by creatively expressing myself through photos + words.
My first series is how I see NATURE. Follow along each month & click here to see the latest…
